Our micro gym with a fantastic semi-private green space was discovered and subsequently acquired in late 2018. It was intended to be solely the new home for Rocska, our then two-year-old dojo affiliated with Shotokan Karate of America, a national nonprofit teaching Karate-Do since 1956. The property at 336 Broadway Street in Wadsworth Square was originally a neighborhood business and was later converted into an apartment. In order to transform it into a training space, we removed a wall and installed reclaimed maple wood gymnasium flooring transported from Cleveland, Ohio. The work was lengthy, messy, and sometimes arduous because as the demolition was going on, we wanted to retain original features including a custom-built kitchen and a retro bathroom.

By the time 2020 rolled around, the major parts of the renovation were thankfully done. We all welcomed the new year with anticipation as we started looking forward to growing our dojo. Then came March 15th. 2020 and as we collectively experienced, things came to a standstill. Now more than two years since the start of the pandemic, we have mostly come to terms with our new normal.

I’m pleased to share that we are expanding our offerings and reach - even as we continue to focus on personal and small group training at this juncture. While we continue constructing this website, please feel free to reach out any time if you have questions.
